This is important. Calling out the obvious in the world of sports journalism and journalism - yet in 2024, the two specialisms still feign ignorance. "De-programme" yourselves and push back on this decay, call it out in that editorial discussion - this is in your power. If a team wins, show the whole team. It the team loses, show the whole team. If one player is spectacular in their performance, show them - shine the light on their goodness. Not rocket science. Just decent, honest, plain journalism. Bravo JJB for exposing the rot - and rotting practices. 👏🏽

They realise.It is naive to say they do not.You do so at the risk of being part of that intent.An intent that knows that :Information and symbols (images)influence belief.Belief influences thinking and behaviour.It seeks to exert influence that keeps us divided.This interview is a response to the fact that we are noticing. Last summer I made a point of learning to listen more deeply. It’s something I know I will never perfect, but can continue to develop. I collected ideas from “Listen Like You Mean It” by Ximena Vengoechea and connected them to my thoughts on the subject. Ximena outlines five goals of listening and speaking that I find useful: to connect, to learn, to solve, for company, or to validate.
