The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare
Jointly organised by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and BMJ, the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare has a rich history of supporting and energising the international movement for health and care improvement.
From 300 people meeting in London in 1996 to over 5000 improvers attending the International Forum events every year, the conference is the place to hear and meet some of the world’s brightest minds and forge relationships that drive improvement and innovation in health and care across the world.

Delivered both in-person and online, the programme showcased quality improvement projects from across different sectors in the UK and the globe, and discussed how we can create a system of health and care that truly meets the needs of our communities.
The conference in London witnessed great energy and exchange of ideas, hugely facilitated by over 250 amazing speakers and leaders in their field. With over 60 countries represented at the International Forum, the feeling of unity and collaboration had never felt as strong. We are humbled and grateful for everyone’s support and we look forward to seeing you again in Utrecht next May (21-23 May 2025).

Online attendance
Packed full of content and activities, the tw-day online schedule was built around learning, connecting and collaborating during and after the conference.
We had brand new online-only live sessions, developed specifically with our online attendees in mind. These featured speakers from diverse backgrounds and expertise such as Donald M. Berwick from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Jason Leitch from the Scottish Government, the service and QI team from East London NHS Foundation Trust, Dominique Allwood from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust / UCLPartner, Tracey Herlihey from NHS England, Pierre Barker and Don Goldman from Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and others.
Online attendees enjoyed lively discussions, heard international perspectives and exchanged ideas to adapt and implement in their own practice.
