The old 4100 was better with more strokes per second. This new one is a weaker version. I'd probably go with the cheapest 2 pack from Costco nowadays. Usually 2 for $70 on sale and I think it's on par with 6100. Optimal clean is what's it's advertised as I believe.

I got the 4100 for about this price and it was not good for the money. My wife and I thought it was extremely weak in power and didn't work nearly as well as our 6100 did, which internally seperated after about 1 year.

When shopping for a new brush, on the 4100 I looked into the old version vs the new. I had heard about this issue. Turns out it was a bunch of nonsense from people who hadn't looked into it. Old vs new 4100 is the same brush with the same strokes/power but the strokes are measured differently by the marketing department 1 action vs 2 actions . Marketing materials show a decrease in the strokes/actions by half - but that's only because it's measuring both vs 1 action. That's a non-issue.
It seems Sonicare has two main types of bodies for these rechargeable toothbrushes: the slim ones like the 4100 and larger bodies for the more expensive brushes. If you put them next to each other, one is significantly larger in size than the other - hard to confuse the two. Although it definitely doesn't have as much power as the larger bodies, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Many people overbrush and gums are sensitive enough that you can damage them with too much force/power over time. I'd just get whichever didn't have extraneous stuff like bluetooth.

I bought this toothbrush last month. It took me a week to figure out there are multiple speeds. Single click for slow, double click for fast.

We had the old 4100 (non-USB) and the new 4100 (USB). There is a difference. The USB version didn't feel as strong. It didn't seem defective but I guess it could have been. We gave it to a family member and as far as I know it's still working. We got the 2 pack from Costco.
